YOUTH LEGION: S.W. Jack moves to 4-0

Visiting S.W. Jack outhit Marion Center 9-2 and improved to 4-0 with a 12-2 win in an Indiana County Youth Legion baseball game that was shortened to five innings due to the mercy rule Friday.

The Black Sox led 3-0 before plating nine runs on four hits, five walks and an error in the third inning to take a 12-0 lead. Zach Schultz fueled the rally with a three-run triple.

Winning pitcher Cole Shaffer struck out three and walked four in two innings. Shaffer also singled, doubled and drove in a run. Jake Kelly went 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

Eric Hicks notched Marion Center’s only two hits and drove in both runs.

Both teams play Monday. Marion Center (0-5) plays host to Fezell Enterprises, and S.W. Jack travels to Derry.

CLYMER LEGION 8, MARION CENTER 1: In a game played Thursday, Mike Hildebrand tossed a one-hitter to guide Clymer Legion to a win over host Marion Center.

Hildebrand struck out 14 and walked three. He also singled, doubled and scored a pair of runs.

Kyle Templeton went 3-for-4 with three runs scored to lead Clymer Legion. Logan Mack doubled and tripled.

Eric Stitt had Marion Center’s lone hit, a single. Jordan Williams stole home in the second inning for Marion Center’s only run.

Losing pitcher Dylan Goss struck out five and walked none.

Clymer Legion travels to United on Monday.
