The Smicksburg United Methodist Women met at 7 p.m. May 8. There were 16 members and four youths present.
The devotions were insights from Psalms, Proverbs and Leviticus about mothers. The program was titled “Cain’s Wife – Who Was She?”
The minutes from the previous meeting and the treasurer’s report were approved as read.
May 10 was the Family Day Banquet.
It was held at the church and was covered dish, with entertainment.
The club decided to donate to the Western PA Mission U, formerly the School of Mission.
Brochures and information from the charities the club supports are available for review.
The annual yard and bake sale (trash and treasure sale) will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 8, rain or shine, in conjunction with Smicksburg’s Strawberry Festival. The club will sell hoagies, baked goods and soda for lunch.
Hoagie making and setup will begin at 7 a.m. Fliers are available for advertising and a sign-up sheet will be posted for volunteers. They will order more dishcloths and possibly pizza cutters to be prepared for the yard sale.
The club voted to cancel the recognition breakfast for graduates and retirees as there is no one to honor this year.
The meeting was closed with the reading of the litany. After the prayer, there was a meal and door prizes were awarded.
