YOUTH BASEBALL: Thomas leads McDonald's to victory in Little League action
Luke Thomas went 4-for-4 and drove in the game-winning run to lead McDonald’s to a 4-3 win over McGill’s in an Indiana Little League baseball game Tuesday at Indiana Regional Medical Center Field.
With the game tied 3-3 in the top of the seventh inning, Thomas tripled to score Gunner Sharp for the eventual game-winning run.
Thomas also allowed no runs and just two hits in five innings of relief to earn the win.
Joey Bujdos ripped an RBI double for McGill’s.
• Creps edged McDonald’s, 11-10, in the first game of an Indiana Little League baseball doubleheader Sunday.
Keegan Ryan, Grant Harkleroad and Austin Homer each had two hits for Creps.
Axel Kovalchick led McDonald’s with two hits, including a homer. Gunner Sharp had three hits and two RBIs.
In the second game, McDonald’s mustered just three hits but stole home twice in the sixth to nip Creps, 6-5.
Kovalchick stole home to tie the game, 5-5. Ryan Pasternak then stole home to score the game-winning run.
Pitchers Ewing Greenhill and Luke Thomas combined to rack up 16 strikeouts and allow just six hits for McDonald’s.
Alec Petroff singled twice to lead Creps. Petroff and Ryan shared pitching duties.
