YOUTH LEGION ROUNDUP: Kovacik hands Drillers first loss

Josh Daugherty tossed a three-hitter and completely shut down previously unbeaten S.W. Jack to lead Kovacik Insurance to a 4-0 victory in an Indiana County Youth Legion baseball game Thursday at Charlie Hogan Field.

Daugherty, who struck out two and walked two, gave up only two singles.

Joseph Faulk collected both of S. W. Jack’s hits, going 2-for-2 with a double. Cole Shaffer struck out five in four innings of relief and took the loss for the Drillers.

Both teams play Saturday. S.W. Jack (5-1) plays host to Clymer Legion, and Kovacik Insurance travels to Walbeck Insurance.


YOUNG TOWNSHIP 3, CLYMER LEGION 0: Tanner Yard fired a two-hitter, and Young Township blanked host Clymer Legion in a clash of two of the top teams in the league.

Doug Shaffer and Devin Fairman each cracked RBI singles in the top of the third inning to give Young Township a 3-0 lead.

Yard struck out six and walked one in seven innings.

Brad Remaley recorded both of Clymer Legion’s hits, going 2-for-3 with a triple. Mike Hilldebrand struck out five and walked two in four innings and took the loss.

Clymer Legion (5-2) travels to S.W. Jack tonight. Young Township (5-1) travels to Indiana Lions on Monday.
