The White Township planning commission will recommend that the township supervisors look into a plan to alleviate traffic congestion and safety concerns at Lenz Road and Oakland Avenue.
In a letter that will be submitted to the supervisors at tonight’s regular meeting, the planning commission urges action in the area, which could be the site of future development.
Options for the area, as outlined in the township’s official map, include a new connector road or relocation of Lenz Road, said Chris Anderson, code enforcement officer.
The official map provides guidelines for how officials would like to see development happen in the township.
Traffic in the area of Lenz Road could be increased in the future, with plans for development in that area such as a proposed car dealership and hotel.
And while Anderson said a traffic study showed the current situation would not be impacted by this development, it would be impacted by other projected development in that area, he said.
In other business, the planning commission:
• Tabled a final site plan from Delaney Auto Group for another dealership and a hotel on the property adjacent to the existing Honda dealership off Oakland Avenue.
Commission members tabled plans for the 20,144-square-foot Subaru-Hyundai and three-story, 80-room hotel until issues with a stormwater agreement and slope can be addressed.
Anderson also mentioned the pending issues regarding traffic in the area as a concern.
• Approved a final minor subdivision for Eugene Frye at 2109 Philadelphia St. to add two side lots of 4,176 square feet to his adjacent property.
