Young Township’s Mitchel Yard hit a two-run homer in the sixth to help the Renegades pull out a 2-1 win over Marion Center in a pitchers’ duel in an Indiana County Senior Legion baseball game Tuesday evening at Bertolino Field.
With Ben Carnahan on first base, Yard belted a homer off Jared Selkirk to give the Renegades a 2-1 lead.
Ian Satler fired a three-hitter for Young Township. Satler, who struck out five and walked two, allowed one hit after the third inning.
“He mixed it up well,” Young Township manager Barry Thomas said. “He had them off balance and really just pitched a nice all-around game. They really didn’t get a solid hit on him after the third.”
Delbert Brown paced Young Township by going 2-for-3 with a double.
Selkirk struck out four, walked two and allowed six hits in a complete-game effort.
Both teams play Thursday. Young Township (3-2) plays at Indiana Legion, and Marion Center visits Kovacik Insurance.
