S.W. Jack pitcher Cole Shaffer tossed a one-hitter and drove in three runs to power S.W. Jack to a 4-1 win over Derry in an Indiana County Youth Legion game at Charlie Hogan Field on Tuesday.
Jason Harrington put the Black Sox on the board first by driving in Ryan Palmer with a base hit in the bottom of the second inning. Later in the inning, with two outs and the bases loaded, Shaffer belted a three-run triple to make it a 4-0 game.
Shaffer struck out nine and walked eight. He allowed hit, an infield single by Damian Huffman in the top of the seventh inning.
“He pitched a great game,” S.W. Jack manager Mitch Pacconi said. “He walked eight guys, but he stayed tough. He just kept getting out of jams.”
Both teams play Friday. S.W. Jack (10-3) plays host to I-Medical and Derry (4-7) heads to Clymer Legion.
