State police reported that a Westmoreland County man was lodged at the Indiana County Jail after he attacked a 15-year-old boy on a hiking trail near Saltsburg.
Anthony Lotito, 21, of Harrison City, was charged with misdemeanor counts of simple assault and disorderly conduct, and summary counts of harassment and public drunkenness following the altercation at 8 p.m. Monday, according to police and online court records.
Investigators said Lotito confronted the youth, who, along with friends “were hanging out off a trail near Salt Street … (when) Lotito became belligerent with the victim and threw a rock” at the boy’s face.
The teenager required medical treatment for a laceration, according to police.
Lotito was taken before the on-call district judge, George Thachik of Clymer, for preliminary arraignment early Tuesday and was held in jail when he was unable to post an unspecified bond.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 2 in Clymer District Court.
Someone used personal information of Peter Stehnach, of Black Lick, to open on online checking account and divert his direct-deposit Social Security payment to the bogus account, state police at Indiana reported.
The account was set up May 5, according to investigators.
State police reported that someone punched a hole in the hood of a car belonging to Gordon Ford, of Irwin, Westmoreland County, between 7 a.m. and noon Monday on Route 286.Troopers at Indiana gave no estimate of the damage.
Plumcreek Township, Armstrong County
Celeste Ouellette, of Ford City, told state police that someone made online purchases using her debit card account at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday.
Police gave no estimate of the loss.
