Government Day service
A special Government Day service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday at Cornerstone Worship Center, 500 Lenz Road, White Township.
Elected officials will speak, and there will be a special message from Pastor Price, “A Reawakening,” which highlights a 1946 speech by President Harry S. Truman.
An outdoor service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Pastor Price will present the message “The Cost Of Freedom,” which examines the life and words of patriot Nathan Hale.

CREEKSIDE — A Civil War-themed puppet play, “Would You Like Johnnycake With That?”, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Center Presbyterian Church, Creekside.
Refreshments will be served at 11 a.m., and the regular worship service is at 11:30 a.m. The play is put on by children and volunteers of the church.
GLEN CAMPBELL — The annual strawberry festival will begin at noon Sunday at the historic First Baptist Church of Glen Campbell. Everyone is invited to attend.
The festival follows the 10 a.m. worship service. Three preludes will be played on the congregation’s pipe organ by music director/organist Mitchell Jerko.
The liturgical service begins at 10:15 a.m. with the Processional Hymn. The First Baptist choir, directed by Jerko and consisting of four IUP music majors, will sing a sacred anthem.
The Rev. Dr. Allan N. Campbell will preach the sermon “Serving a Demanding Christ and our Nation,” based on the Gospel of St. Luke 9:51-52.
The festival will be held at the church park across the street from the church building. There will be a variety of side dishes and picnic foods, hot dogs, hamburgers, meatless burgers, cold canned drinks, water and coffee.
The highlight of the festival is the homemade strawberry short cake, with a choice of angel food cake or traditional short cake. The dessert comes with strawberries and optional ice cream.
There will also be a drawing for theme baskets which participants can individually select to win. Drawing tickets are $1 each or six for $5.
Live music will be provided by The Country Friends, who perform informal country music. The lay church member chairing this year’s festival is Crystal Kalus.

Free clothes giveaway
CHERRY TREE — The 13th annual back-to-school free clothes giveaway will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 11 behind Kinport Assembly of God, Cherry Tree.
New coats, backpacks, hygiene products, shoes, haircuts and a light lunch will be free to school-age children of low-income families. There is no need to register and no income verification necessary.
