KNOWLTON, N.J. (AP) — State police are searching for a man who vanished after a tubing accident on the Delaware River in northwestern New Jersey.
The 38-year-old man was tubing with a group of people Saturday afternoon when his tube and the tube of his 14-year-old daughter both broke free from the group. The two tubes then drifted toward the Pennsylvania side of the river and overturned.
The teenager reached land on the Pennsylvania side, but the other group members could not find her father. Authorities said the group had embarked earlier in the day from a campground in Knowlton.
The tubing accident occurred just hours after officials had issued a warning that the river had crested several feet above normal due to heavy rains upstream.
