Mona M. Shearer (Stiver) Muir and James Muir celebrated their 50th anniversary at the West Lebanon Church of God on June 28.

Scott and Carla Muir, Gregg and Sally Muir Bennett and Stacey Muir Risinger and Emilee hosted a party for them that included the renewal of their vows and a reception in the fellowship hall.

The original wedding party was present along with over 100 family and friends, some traveling from as far as Florida.

Pastor Kirt Anderson wrote a special ceremony for the renewal of their vows. Sally and Stacey sang, “I Love You Truly.” Donna Burkett played the piano and sang “The Lord’s Prayer.”

The original wedding gown was displayed during the reception.

The gown was made by the groom’s mother, Fannie O’Neil Muir.

The couple’s oldest daughter, Sally, also wore the gown 25 years ago for her wedding.

The hall was decorated with balloons, lights and ribbon. A buffet was served, followed by cutting of the “wedding cake.”

Following the party, Jim and Mona plan on taking a cruise.
