DERRY TOWNSHIP — State police at Greensburg arrested two men and charged them with robbery at a tavern in Derry Township, Westmoreland County, early Saturday.
Police said Tara Hutter, of Derry, and William Cowan, of Blairsville, were leaving Tommasini’s Tavern at approximately 2:45 a.m. Saturday when two men approached them brandishing handguns. The two armed men ordered Hutter and Cowan to a parking lot behind the bar and onto the ground. The victims were then robbed of their money and cellphones, police said.
The bandits ran away along the railroad tracks.
Police said an investigation into an earlier unrelated robbery led them to charge Andrew Brunetto, 18, of Levittown, and Richard Lenhart, 31, of Derry, as suspects in the tavern robbery.
Brunetto and Lenhart were charged with conspiracy, robbery, simple assault, recklessly engendering another person, terroristic threats, theft and criminal mischief, and were placed in the Westmoreland County Jail.
