Seventh-place Trendy Trades mustered just four hits but used a big surge in the fourth inning to nip first-place Blairsville, 5-4, in an Indiana County League baseball game Tuesday in Graceton.
Trendy Trades trailed 4-2 before rallying to score three runs with two outs in the fourth. Kurt Krejocic and Tyler Clifford drew back-to-back bases-loaded walks to tie the game, 4-4. Logan Douglas then ripped an RBI single to score Chad Martin for the go-ahead run.
“We just scraped those runs together,” Trendy Trades player-manager Larry Cadile said. “It was just a couple good at-bats. Kurt and Tyler made them pitch, and they threw a lot of pitches. We weren’t hitting the ball all that well, but we scraped enough offense together to pull it out.”
Martin finished 2-for-3 for Trendy Trades. Krejocic singled and drove in a pair of runs.
Matt Wilson struck out six, walked one and allowed six hits in a complete-game win.
“Matt kept them off balance,” Cadile said. “(Dan) Leonard and (Scott) Harsh gave him some problems, but he shut the rest of their lineup down pretty well. They accounted for five of their six hits.”
Harsh went 3-for-3 and drilled a solo homer, and Leonard went 2-for-3 and drove in a run.
Ben Doak tossed a four-hitter in a losing effort. He struck out three and walked four.
Both teams play makeup games this evening. Trendy Trades (7-10) travels to New Derry this evening, and Blairsville (17-4-1) visits West Lebanon.
