Brian Crooks, a graduate of United High School, is currently in Spain completing a two-month internship for Penn State.
Crooks, a forestry and climatology major at PSU, was one of five Penn State students selected for the internship.
He is studying the effects of global climate change and land use on Mediterranean ecosystems in Spain. Crooks is working for Spanish ecologists at King Juan Carlos University in Fuenlabrada and for the CSIC-Higher Scientific Research Council in Madrid. Though staying in Madrid, Crooks will also travel to remote field sites across Spain.
He is the son of Bruce and Elaine Crooks, of Brush Valley.
