Blairsville pitcher Jarred Pennavaria tossed a gem, and the Colts plated seven runs in the fourth inning to topple West Lebanon, 7-1, in an Indiana County League baseball game Wednesday at Bertolino Field.
The game was shortened to five innings due to rain.
Pennavaria fired a four-hitter, striking out nine without issuing a walk.
The Colts trailed 1-0 before scoring seven runs on five hits, two walks and an error in the top of the fourth. Scott Harsh ignited the rally by cracking a two-run double with the bases loaded. Ben Doak added a two-run single, and Joe Culler, Pennavaria and Dan Leonard each smacked RBI singles.
“We left a lot of guys on base — mostly in scoring position — in our last game,” Culler, Blairsville’s player-manager, said of Tuesday’s 5-4 loss to Trendy Trades. “(Nick) Draghi loaded the bases with a bunt, and then we just busted out. Harsh came up big with that double. He’s been coming up big at the bottom of the lineup all year.”
Leonard led Blairsville by going 2-for-3.
