Trendy Trades player/manager Larry Cadile took the mound in place of his injured starter and shut down West Lebanon, allowing two hits in six innings of relief as Trendy Trades pulled out a 1-0 victory in an Indiana County League baseball game Thursday evening at West Lebanon’s Bertolino Field.
Chad Martin started the game for Trendy Trades, but left the mound with a sore arm after just an inning. Cadile, relying on a knuckleball, struck out one and walked one, minimizing the damage of two doubles for the win.
“I had just pitched Sunday,” Cadile said. “I was catching, and I thought I had no chance of pitching. Chad usually pitches pretty deep into the game. (But) my arm was feeling decent, so I went in to throw.
“The defense played great. Logan Douglas was great at shortstop.”
Josh Mottorn and Matt Rebyanski each doubled for West Lebanon’s only hits.
Trendy Trades’ Mike Panchik singled in Travis Redinger in the third inning for the only run of the game.
Martin and Redinger both finished 2-for-3.
Mottorn took the hard-luck loss, striking out three and walking none, allowing just the one run on eight hits in a complete-game effort.
Both teams play Sunday. Trendy Trades (8-11) welcomes Greensburg for a doubleheader, and West Lebanon (11-9-1) travels to Bovard.
