BURRELL TOWNSHIP — A Westmoreland County motorcyclist died in a two-vehicle crash Thursday evening on Route 22, according to the Indiana County coroner.

Chief Deputy Coroner Jerry Overman identified the victim as Brad Heming, 54, of Fairfield Township, Westmoreland County. Heming was riding his motorcycle east on Route 22 at about 7:13 p.m. when a vehicle driven by Matthew Reed II, of Blairsville, pulled out of Old Farm Road into the path of Heming’s motorcycle, according to Overman.

Overman said Heming’s cycle hit the driver’s side of Reed’s car. Reed was not hurt.

Heming, who was wearing a helmet, suffered blunt force trauma to his head and neck and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Overman.

An autopsy was planned for today at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.

Volunteer firefighters from Blairsville, Black Lick and Clyde assisted police and paramedics at the scene.

Coral/Graceton firefighters assisted in closing Route 22.

State police at Indiana are investigating.

Funeral arrangements for Heming will be handled by the Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence.
