Chicken dinner

CLYMER — The annual grilled chicken dinner with homemade halushki will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today in the church parking lot at St. Anne’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 360 Franklin St., Clymer.

The dinner is takeout only. The cost is $10 for adults and $6 for children ages 12 and younger. All are welcome.

Parish fundraiser

TANNERYVILLE — Resurrection Roman Catholic Parish in Johnstown is sponsoring a fundraiser, “Groovin’ at the Grove,” from 7 to 10 p.m. today at the Grove, 926 Cooper Ave., Tanneryville.

Son Day in the Park

CLYMER — The fifth annual Son Day in the Park will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Sherman Street Park, Clymer. This is a free multi-denominational event that is held as an outreach to the area.

A prayer, praise and worship service kicks off the event this evening at the same location. Pastor Jackie Greene will share a brief message at 7 p.m. with a time of refreshment to follow.

On Sunday, music will be held all day on the main stage with all Christian music performed by Lantern, Anthony Frazier, Spring Valley, Keystone Heirs, Third Degree, Impulse, Overcome, Scent of Water and Sherri Danae of Precious Seed Ministries.

Kiddie Korner will have crafts, a 75-foot-long obstacle course, Velcro wall, live puppet show, storybook time and more. There will be hot dogs, meatball sandwiches, nachos and beverages in the food court. Local churches will provide ice cream sandwiches, cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn, bottled water and soft drinks.

There will be door prizes and drawings throughout the day, a community basket drawing and a grand prize drawing at the end of the day.

Bring a lawn chair, family and friends for a day of fun, fellowship and food.

Guest speaker

DIXONVILLE — Strongman Rodrick “Bubba” Dowling, a self-employed missionary, will be the guest speaker at the 10:45 a.m. worship service Sunday at Dixonville Wesleyan Church, 246 Purchase Line Road.

Dowling will perform feats of strength as he shares his message. Bubba and his wife and their six children are from Lees Summit, Miss. For information, call Pastor Mike Fisher at (724) 254-1930.

Picnic at pastor’s home

GLEN CAMPBELL — Everyone is invited to the annual church and Sunday school picnic of First Baptist Church of Glen Campbell from noon to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the home of Drs. Allan and Dorothy Campbell, 231 N. Sixth St., Indiana.

A short worship will be held at noon under the walnut tree. The regular offerings will be taken. There will be no planned music. There will be hot dogs, hamburgers, soft drinks, water, iced tea, swimming and good fellowship.

All dishes, utensils, napkins, condiments seating and tables will also be provided. Those attending are asked to bring a dessert and/or covered dish, swimsuits, towels and a prayer for good weather. In case of rain, a tent will be set up.

Tent revival

BROCKWAY — The 11th annual tent revival will be held Monday through Aug. 11 at the First Apostles’ Doctrine Church and Just For Jesus Challenge Homeless Outreach Ministry, 14530 Route 28, south of Brockway.

Music begins at 6 p.m. each day. The Just For Jesus Testifying Meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Bishop Jack Wisor will present revival services at 6:30 p.m. every other day. Games, activities for all ages and horse rides will be held from noon to 1 p.m. and 3:30 to 5 p.m. Aug. 10 with a picnic from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The church service will be held at 10:40 a.m. Aug. 11.

ALVERDA — Gospel singer Ron Druck will be performing at 6 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Alverda Faith Tabernacle, Alverda. Everyone is welcome.

Free clothes giveaway

CHERRY TREE — The 13th annual back-to-school free clothes giveaway will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 10 behind Kinport Assembly of God, Cherry Tree.

New coats, backpacks, hygiene products, shoes, haircuts and a light lunch will be free to school-age children of low-income families. There is no need to register and no income verification necessary.

Back-to-school festival

CHERRY TREE — The Lighthouse Morning Star Ministries annual Back-to-School Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 10 at the church, 4886 Route 240, Cherry Tree.

There will be giveaways of bookbags, notebooks, pencils, pens and other items. Activities include volleyball, basketball, playground games, prize drawings, a time for Christian music and a Bible story. A free lunch will be provided for all who attend.

ROBINSON — The Helping Hands of the Robinson Evangelical United Methodist Church will hold a chicken dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 11 at the church, 332 Mary St., Robinson. The cost is $8 for adults, $3 for children ages 5 to 12, and free for ages 4 and younger. Takeouts are available.

Revival services

CHERRY TREE — The Lighthouse Morning Star Ministries, 4886 Route 240, Cherry Tree, will hold the following revival services under the big tent:

• Aug. 11 — 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Guest speaker: Apostle Robert Dixon, of Morgantown, W.Va. The mime team from his church will perform dynamic skits.

• Aug. 15 — Youth service. Youths are invited to showcase their talents: solos, instrumentals, groups, dance teams, etc. There will also be basketball, volleyball, a hot dog roast and other activities.

• Aug. 16 to 18 — Pastors Traci and Libby Fannin, of Morehead, Ky., will be the guest speakers. Service times are 7 p.m. each day and 10 a.m. Aug. 18. Prophet Tim and Sharon Colisino, of Grantsville, Md., owners of He’s Alive Radio 97.3, will be the speakers at the 7 p.m. Aug. 18 service.

BLAIRSVILLE — The churches of Blairsville will come together for a time of worshipping God with musical praise at 6 p.m. Aug. 11 at the United Presbyterian Church of Blairsville.

ELDERTON — Butterfly Hill Preschool at Elderton Presbyterian Church, 115 N. Main St., has limited openings for the 2013-14 preschool year, starting in September.

The Indiana County Christian Homeschoolers will have classes starting in September in Indiana. The new family-centered support home-school co-op group is focused on sharing a passion for home learning.
