The Armstrong-Indiana-Clarion Drug and Alcohol Commission is sponsoring free Reality Tours for parents, youth and community members from 6 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 7 at the Indiana County Jail.

Throughout the year, the Armstrong-Indiana-Clarion Drug and Alcohol Commission, the Indiana County District Attorney’s Office, the Indiana County Sheriff’s Office, and the county jail afford Indiana County residents more opportunities to start the conversation with youth about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.

The Reality Tour is a drug-awareness and prevention program that takes participants into the life experiences of a teen addicted to heroin. It is an experience designed to create a lasting impact on all who attend.

The tour includes dramatic scenes depicting a timeline of events, informative and interactive discussions about types of drugs and their addictions, questions and answers with people in recovery and law enforcement officials, and ways to start the conversation with youths about drug and alcohol use.

Children who attend will receive a “mug shot” that will be morphed to show how drugs affect physical appearance. The tour is recommended for children 10 and older who are accompanied by an adult. Parents, grandparents and community members are also encouraged to attend.

Registration is required by Wednesday by calling (724) 354-2746.

The forms are also available at, at the bottom of the main page.

Organizers are also looking for volunteers to fill roles as the parents and the youth. Youth volunteers must be 10 or older.
