Bethel Presbyterian powered through the consolation bracket to get itself a shot at the Indiana County Church League softball championship series, winning two playoff games recently.
Bethel defeated Gilgal Presbyterian, 21-6, on Thursday, then Summit Church, 27-19, on Friday.
Tim Stewart and John Steigert both hit for the cycle, going 5-for-5 to lead Bethel in Thursday’s game.
Chris Nehrig was also 5-for-5, and Jason Stone and Chris Hibbs slugged home runs.
Jason Stone, Adam Carnahan and winning pitcher Dave Orr added three hits apiece, including a triple for Orr.
Scott Bowman, Jason Canose and Bill Gasier had two hits each to lead Gilgal, which was eliminated from the playoffs.
Orr, Stewart, Steigert and Nehrig had four hits each to lead Bethel’s attack on Friday.
Steigert clubbed a homer, and Orr had two triples and 10 RBIs. Orr was also the winning pitcher.
Garrett Jennings hit two triples and a double for Summit, which was also eliminated.
Logan Lawson added a home run.
Bethel advances to face CMA on Monday to determine which team will face Divine Destiny in the best-of-three championship series.
