BRUSH VALLEY — Route 56 will be closed one mile east of Brush Valley beginning Friday at 6 p.m., according to officials with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
The closure, between Spruce Hollow Road and Sunflower Lane, will allow construction workers to replace the bridge that carries Route 56 over Brush Creek in Brushvalley Township. A new box culvert and realignment of approximately one half mile of road is scheduled.
The road is expected to reopen Aug. 23.
A detour for eastbound traffic will be in place using Route 56 to Route 119, to Route 22 and back to Route 56. A detour for westbound travel will use Route 56 to Route 22, to Route 119, and back to Route 56.
This $2,880,000 bridge replacement project is being constructed by C.J. Merlo of Mineral Point.
