HS SOFTBALL: Colts fall short in own tourney

NORTHERN CAMBRIA — Northern Cambria scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but the Colts’ rally was stopped short in a 5-3 loss to Conemaugh Township in the championship game of the Colt Classic softball tournament on Saturday.

The Colts had two runners on base with two outs in the seventh when the final out was recorded. Zoey Gailey led Northern Cambria with two hits.

Earlier Saturday, the Colts scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to edge Bishop Carroll, 8-7, in first-round game.

Jenna Lecorchik finished with four hits, Kelly Lieb added three and each hit home run.

Lieb also picked up the win with two strikeouts and four walks.

The Colts (7-7) travel to Marion Center on Tuesday.
