MURRYSVILLE — The Indiana seventh- and eighth-grade girls’ track and field team defeated Franklin Regional, 64-59, on Monday.
The Indiana boys’ team fell to Franklin Regional, 84-39.
Becca Olechovski led the girls (5-2) with wins in the long jump and triple jump. She also ran on the winning 3,200 relay team with Clara Sherwood, Teresa Roth and Abby Myers. Megan Kester won the 100 and 400, Kara Gibbon took the high jump, Kalyn Menifee placed first in the shot put, and Sarah Coffman finished first in the discus.
Reed Harkleroad won the discus and the pole vault to lead the boys (3-5).
Indiana travels to the Plum Invitational on Wednesday.
IHS drops tennis playoff match
ALVERTON — Indiana fell to host Southmoreland, 5-0, in opening round of the WPIAL Class AA boys’ tennis team championships Monday.
Indiana concluded its season with an 8-8 record.
Indiana loses JV game
Marion Center defeated Indiana, 16-15, in a junior varsity baseball game Monday.
Wade Semsick led Indiana with two hits, five RBIs and four runs scored. Chase Kromer and Izaak Gray each had three hits, and Jonah Schall added four runs scored and six stolen bases.
CMA wins softball game
CMA improved to 3-0 by beating Sovereign Grace, 19-8, in an Indiana County Church League softball game Monday.
Dave Raymond led CMA with five hits, including a triple. Josh Castle added four hits, and Scott Shirley and Terry Zele each singled twice and tripled. Steve Timko and Kirk Weaver each had three singles. Ray Nyland was the winning pitcher.
Ryan VanHorn hit a home run for Sovereign Grace.
