HARRISBURG (AP) — The man who had been Pennsylvania’s acting secretary of the Department of Health since October now has the job.
The state Senate confirmed Michael Wolf, 46, to the post of health secretary Monday. He’ll
lead the 1,700-employee agency.
The department’s mission includes promoting healthy and safe lifestyles, as well as the regulation of hospitals, nursing homes and other medical facilities.
Wolf is a former public affairs and policy director with one of the world’s largest drugmakers, Pfizer. He has a master’s degree from the University of Phoenix and attended college at Slippery Rock University.
Wolf’s predecessor, Dr. Eli Avila, said when he left the job last year that he wanted to pursue other interests and spend more time with his family.
