MARION CENTER — Young Township outhit winless Marion Center 11-2 and scored the game’s first seven runs to coast to a 12-2 win in an Indiana County Youth Legion baseball game that was shortened to six innings due to the mercy rule Sunday.
Brady Neal singled twice, tripled and drove in a run for Young Township. Jake Townsend added three singles and an RBI, and Dylan Wingard stroked a two-run double.
Devin Fairman fired a two-hitter for Young Township. He struck out 11 and walked eight.
Both teams play today. Marion Center (0-12) travels to I-Medical, and Young Township (8-2) plays host to United.
• In games played last week, Fezell Enterprises scored five runs in the sixth inning to overtake Derry for a 10-9 win, and Kovacik Insurance scored three times in the 10th to knock off Fezell 9-8.
Peyton Graham drove in four runs in the win over Derry on Wednesday, and Keeston Perry and Joey DiPietro each stroked two hits. Perry knocked in three runs.
Tyler Geer picked up the win, pitching the last 2 1-3 innings.
For Derry, Damian Huffman went 4-for-4 with four RBIs, Zack Blystone delivered three this and two RBIs, and Devin Siko chipped in two hits.
In a game played last Monday, Kovacik Insurance tied the game at 6 in the seventh inning, scored three times in the 10th and stopped Fezell’s 10th-inning rally a run short of tying the game.
John Fetchko went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for Kovacik, and Bubba Seitz stroked two hits and drove in two runs. Joe Faulk went 4-for-4 with an RBI.
For Fezell, Lucas Ambler went 4-for-5 with three RBIs, and Trent Stouffer, Graham and DiPeitro each had two hits.
Josh Daugherty picked up the win, pitching six innings in relief, striking out 10 and walking two.
