Blairsville’s Scott Harsh tossed a four-hitter, homered and drove in four runs to lift the first-place Colts to an easy win over New Derry at New Derry Field.
Harsh ripped an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the Colts a 7-2 lead.
An inning later, Harsh drilled a three-run homer to fuel a five-run rally that put Blairsville ahead 12-2.
Harsh finished 3-for-4. He also struck out three and walked none in his first starting pitching role of the year.
“The most important thing was he pitched well,” Blairsville player-manager Joe Culler said. “He did a nice job keeping his pitch count under 70. He’s also been taking advantage of his opportunities at the plate. It’s awesome having him at the bottom of the lineup. He’s been producing in that number eight slot all year.”
Jarred Pennavaria singled, doubled and drove in a run for Blairsville.
Ben Doak singled twice and drove in two runs, and Culler singled twice.
Jordan Hope went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for New Derry.
Blairsville (19-4-1) travels to Bovard today. New Derry (9-12) plays host to Amfire Mining on Sunday.
