Amfire Mining concluded its regular season on a two-game winning streak and locked up the No. 5 seed in the upcoming Indiana County League baseball playoffs with a win over host Trendy Trades.

The game was shortened to six innings due to the mercy rule.

Both teams will open their best-of-three quarterfinal series Sunday. The Indies (12-10-1) will travel to fourth-seeded West Lebanon, and sixth-seeded Trendy Trades (10-14) heads to third-seeded New Derry.

“I told the guys after the game that they’re playing their best baseball of the year,” Amfire Mining player-manager Ryan Davies said. “We’re getting timely hitting when we have guys on base and our pitching is coming along. We’re definitely where we want to be. We’re peaking and now we got to just keep it going.”

Danny Clark powered the Indies by going 4-for-5 with two triples, three runs scored and three RBIs. Kevin Jack tripled and drove in two runs, P.J. Kuta doubled and drove in two runs and Matt Brown singled and drove in two runs.

Winning pitcher Troy Trimble struck out two and walked one in three innings. Trimble also singled, doubled and drove in two runs.

Amfire Mining starter Dom Peluso struck out five and walked two in three innings.

Logan Douglas went 3-for-4 with three runs scored to lead Trendy Trades, and Bryan Buzi finished 2-for-3.
