PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Hector “Tito” DeJesus, 42, faces trial on charges he broke into a 95-year-old woman’s Philadelphia home, propositioned her for sex and fatally beat her.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that DeJesus faces charges of murder, attempted sexual assault, burglary and other counts in the Feb. 25 assault on Alice Sanders, who died of her injuries.
Authorities allege Sanders had shopped at the grocery store where DeJesus worked and that the manager told him to carry her packages home. Authorities allege he did so and then returned later in the day, broke in and ordered the woman to take off her clothes.
Police said he fatally beat her when she refused. Authorities said he also told them he’d been drinking and doing cocaine. Defense lawyer Christopher Phillips said he’ll ask to have the statement suppressed.
