BLAIRSVILLE — Motorists have been advised that PennDOT will be conducting overnight milling and paving work on Blairsville’s main thoroughfares beginning tonight.
Work is scheduled to occur on a 500-foot section of South Walnut Street, from the East Market Street intersection to South Alley, and on East Market Street, from downtown to Blairsville Cemetery.
Traffic restrictions will be in place.
The work is to take place from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the rest of this week and into next week, weather permitting.
Borough manager Tim Evans issued the reminder during a council meeting Tuesday.
He said drivers should proceed slowly through construction zones as milling will be deep in some areas.
In other matters, Evans reported that the borough’s tax receipts are beginning to catch up to projections.
Last month, Evans told council that tax revenue was lagging, off by $258,000 over the same time last year. But the gap is now closing, Evans said Tuesday, with the borough behind by about $89,000.
“We’re in good shape,” he said.
