H.S. FOOTBALL: Blairsville 20, Marion Center 14
MARION CENTER — Blairsville speedster Deion Robinson rushed for 192 yards and scored two touchdowns to power the Bobcats to a win over Marion Center in a Heritage Conference football game Friday.
Robinson, who carried the ball 30 times, put Blairsville on the board first when he scored on an 18-yard run that made it 6-0 just 6:39 into the game.
Marion Center running back Noah Hoover tied the game 6-6 when he caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Blake Orr on fourth-and-10 with 8:49 to go in the second quarter.
Orr gave the Stingers a 12-6 lead by scoring a 4-yard touchdown with 4:06 to go in the first half. Orr hit James Holley on the two-point conversion to make it a 14-6 game.
Scott Thompson scored Blairsville’s second touchdown on a 2-yard run with 9:16 left in the third quarter to trim Marion Center’s lead to 14-12.
Then, with the Bobcats still trailing 14-12, Robinson raced 51 yards for a touchdown to make it 18-14 with 3:09 to go in the third quarter. Robinson scored on an inside handoff on the two-point conversion to stretch Blairsville’s lead to 20-14.
Robinson, an outside linebacker, spearheaded the Blairsville defense with two sacks and three tackles for loss. He also caught four passes for 43 yards.
Thompson finished 9 of 15 passing with 110 yards and three interceptions. He rushed for 35 yards on 16 attempts.
John Lucas paced Marion with 76 yards on 11 carries. Hoover caught two passes for 98 yards. He also ran for 32 yards on 10 attempts.
