JOHNSTOWN — Penns Manor limited host Conemaugh Valley to just 158 yards, and the Comets scored a touchdown on each of its seven possessions en route to a 48-6 win in a non-conference football game Saturday afternoon.
Louie Tate put the Comets on the board first when he scored from four yards on a sweep with 7:02 to play in the first quarter to make it 7-0.
On the Comets’ next possession, quarterback Luke Kowalksi capped a nine-play scoring drive with a three-yard touchdown run that made it a 13-0 game.
Kowalski scored again on Penns Manor’s ensuing drive. This time the senior signal caller galloped in from 20 yards on a draw from the shotgun to stretch the Comets’ lead to 20-0.
Conemaugh Valley put together its lone scoring drive of the game on the following possession. Blue Jays’ running back Anthony Hutzell scored from four yards with 5:07 to play in the first half to make it a 20-6 game.
Kowalski hit tight end Gavin Grimaldi for a 12-yard touchdown on Penns Manor’s next possession to give the Comets a 27-6 lead with 2:09 left in the second quarter.
Bailey Mumau increased Penns Manor’s lead to 34-6 when he scored a 23-yard rushing touchdown on the Comets’ next drive.
Tate tacked on a 10-yard touchdown run, and backup quarterback Clayton Stupic threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Somogyi.
Kowalski finished with a team-high 74 yards rushing on just six carries. He also completed 8 of 12 passes for 84 yards.
Tate ran eight times for 64 yards, and Mumau carried the ball four times for 63 yards. Tate also caught two passes for a team-high 34 yards.
