HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Ligonier Valley improves to 5-0

Host Ligonier Valley ran its record to 5-0 by sweeping Purchase Line, 25-23, 25-10, 25-15, in a Heritage Conference girls’ volleyball match Tuesday.

Lauren Jones paced Ligonier Valley with 11 service points and four aces. Emily Ulery added 10 service points and three aces, Madison McLaughlin had seven kills, and Amanda Ross tacked on five kills.

Kelly Pierce and Mikhala Stover each had five kills for Purchase Line. Megan Hudson added nine service points, Allison Goodlin had five digs, and Amy Elling chipped in 13 assists.

Purchase Line won the junior varsity match, 25-17, 19-25, 25-15.

Both teams play Thursday. Ligonier Valley (4-0 conference) travels to United, and Purchase Line (2-3) plays host to Blairsville.


NORTHERN CAMBRIA 3, BLAIRSVILLE 0: Northern Cambria swept host Blairsville, 25-19, 28-26, 25-16, in a Heritage Conference match.

Northern Cambria won the junior varsity match, 25-19, 25-19.

Both teams play Thursday. Northern Cambria plays host to Homer-Center and Blairsville travels to Purchase Line.


UNITED 3, MARION CENTER 2: United outlasted host Marion Center, 23-25, 29-27, 20-25, 25-8, 15-7, in a Heritage Conference match.

No further details were reported to the Gazette.

United won the junior varsity match, 3-2.

Both teams play Thursday. Marion Center (0-4) travels to Penns Manor and United plays host to Ligonier Valley.


CALVARY BAPTIST 3, BIBLE BAPTIST CHRISTIAN SCHOOL 1: Calvary Baptist beat Bible Baptist Christian School, 25-16, 25-4, 21-25, 25-19, in a non-conference match in Latrobe.

Megan Plants led Calvary Baptist with eight kills and seven aces. Erica Stephens added 18 service points, and Rachel Covato had 15 service points.

Calvary Baptist (3-2) travels to Slippery Rock Christian School on Thursday.
