Members of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) organization will meet for the monthly luncheon at Hoss’s Steak and Sea House along Route 119 south of Indiana on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. The meeting will begin at 12:30 p.m.
The agenda will highlight two pending pieces of legislation affecting the active federal workforce and retirees.
The legislative officer will update members about issues concerning H.R. 1780 that would dismantle the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program by forcing federal employees into the state insurance exchange under the Affordable Care Act.
Another major issue affecting active federal employees and retirees is the Chained Consumer Price Index. This legislation is being proposed as a more accurate measure of inflation; however, NARFE leaders say it is not and will gradually lower the standard of living for retirees. The issue is being debated in Congress this month.
All NARFE members of the Indiana Area Chapter 2124 are invited to the luncheon.
