IUP rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit to win at ninth-ranked Kutztown, 4-2, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference women’s field hockey match Saturday.
Kate Bruce scored twice early in the second half to tie the game, and freshman Kendra Blantz scored the go-ahead goal. Ericka Griffith closed out the scoring off an assist by Dani Edwards.
IUP outshot Kutztown 19-10 and held the Golden Bears to one shot in the second half. Darian Shuker made five saves in goal.
IUP (2-6) plays host to 10th-ranked Slippery Rock on Wednesday.
VOLLEYBALL: IUP beat Lock Haven in five games but lost in a sweep to Pitt Johnstown in PSAC crossover matches at Seton Hill on Saturday.
Meghan Schneider had 12 kills and Elizabeth Sova added 11 in the Crimson Hawks’ 25-23, 26-24, 14-25, 23-25, 15-12 win over Lock Haven.
Schneider added five blocks and four service aces, and Sova had eight blocks. Carissa Miara finished with 22 assists, and Lindsay Moeller added 18. Aubree Frye, an Indiana High graduate, contributed a team-high 22 digs, Kelly Barnes chipped in 17, and Sarah Smiley had 13. Smiley also had seven kills. Stephanie Kruzynski had seven blocks.
IUP lost to Pitt Johnstown, 25-15, 25-19, 26-24.
Sova had six kills, and Kruzynski had five. Miara handed out 20 assists, and Barnes finished with 12 digs.
IUP (4-11) plays at Seton Hill on Friday.

Kutztown outshot IUP 14-7. IUP goalkeepers Mara Hricik and Ashley Schoellkopf shared time in goal and combined for five saves.
