Joseph W. Heilman
Joseph W. Heilman recently passed the national accreditation test to become a Certified Green Roof Professional.
According to the Green Roofs for Healthy Cities website, “Successful green roofs require a combination of knowledge and expertise in the so-called ‘black arts’ and ‘green arts.’ The ‘black arts’ focus on the critical, non-living elements of a green roof assembly such as water proofing, structural engineering and project management, while the ‘green arts’ deal with the living architectural components such as water management, growing media, plants and maintenance.”
Heilman, son of Fred and Pat Heilman, of Indiana, is a 2003 graduate of Indiana Area Senior High School and a 2008 graduate of Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture.
He has worked for DCA Landscape Architects, a landscape architecture firm in Washington D.C., since his graduation.
John Mize, of Blairsville, has been admitted into the Pre-Doctoral-Certificate of Theological Studies program for the fall 2013 at United Theological Seminary, Dayton, Ohio.
Brett Lomman, of Commodore and a Purchase Line High School graduate, has enrolled for the fall 2013 semester at Marietta College, Marietta, Ohio.
He is majoring in petroleum engineering.
Lowmman has also been selected to be a McDonough Scholar. The nationally recognized McDonough Leadership Program helps students gain a deeper understanding of leadership, practice their leadership skills, and in the process grow as engaged leaders on campus, in the local community, and beyond.
He will have the chance to travel as part of the McDonough Leadership Study Abroad, pursue a variety of experiential activities, and attend prestigious leadership conferences.
