Four Indiana County 4-H dairy club members recently competed in activities at the PA Junior Dairy Show and All-American Dairy Show in Harrisburg.
Members were eligible for the state 4-H show by winning a blue ribbon earlier this year at regional shows.
Ashton Stiles took third place in the Junior Dairy Show with her Guernsey winter yearling. She also won a Master Showman Award. Madison Cattau placed seventh with her Holstein fall calf, and Aidan Cattau took 11th place with his Red and White spring calf.
These members and Alex Stiles also competed in the junior showmanship contest at All-American, with Madison Cattau placing in the first heat and going on in the competition.
They also were part of the opening ceremony for national junior shows held at the event because they participated in a Facebook photography contest related to the show.
All four members also showed cattle in the type show, with Alexis Stiles having the highest placing of seventh in the Guernsey winter yearling class. Leader Mandy Stiles accompanied the group.
Members also showed eight head of cattle at qualifying district shows. Justin Coleman had a Reserve Junior Champion Red and White winter calf that was first in its class and also best owner bred animal.
Other Red and White placings were Aidan Cattau, fourth, blue spring calf; Alex Stiles, second place, red and best owner bred fall calf; and Jonathon Coleman, third place, red fall calf. Ashton Stiles showed a first-place blue Guernsey winter yearling, and Madison Cattau took a third-place blue with her Holstein fall calf. Sierra Nehrig exhibited two Jerseys, a second-place red summer yearling and a fifth place red winter yearling.
These members represent Southern and Northern 4-H Dairy Clubs.
