PITTSBURGH (AP) — Convicted former Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Joan Orie Melvin has agreed to be suspended from practicing law in federal court.

Online records show Melvin consented to the temporary suspension order signed Thursday by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Joy Flowers Conti. Melvin has previously been barred from practicing in state courts by an order issued in June by the state Supreme Court.

Melvin is appealing her conviction and sentence of three years’ house arrest on charges that she illegally used her former Superior Court staff and the state-paid staff of her sister, former state Sen. Jane Orie, to work on Melvin’s political campaigns.
