Police release monthly statistics

Troopers at the state police station in White Township received 1,009 calls for service in September, a monthly activity report shows.

Patrol officers responded to 79 accidents that resulted in injuries to 20 people. Three people died as a result of two accidents.

Officers arrested 28 people for driving under the influence and attributed nine accidents to alcohol use. They issued 632 traffic tickets and 290 warning notices, including 27 for seat belt infractions and one for a child safety seat violation.

Police performed 201 commercial motor vehicle inspections and assisted 27 drivers.

Criminal investigators received 184 reports of offenses, ruled one report unfounded, cleared 112 cases and filed charges against 124 people during the month, according to the report.

Indiana County sheriff’s office

Deputies at the Indiana County sheriff’s office screened 11,881 visitors at the county courthouse security checkpoint last month, according to a summary of office activity.

Another 1,149 visitors to the domestic relations section offices passed through the deputies’ checkpoint.


Deputies served 102 hours transporting 61 inmates in September, performed 272 hours of court security and served 660 hours of security for other court facilities.


They conducted 15 real estate sales and four personal property sales, and served 29 bench warrants, nine protection-from-abuse orders and 150 other civil papers.


Deputies issued seven traffic citations, five warnings and one non-traffic citation. No criminal charges were filed. The office issued 153 firearm permits and one dealer license, according to the report.
