Four Indiana County 4-H members competed in the recent Western PA 4-H Small Animal Show held in Westmoreland County. They participated in rabbit, dog and communication programs.
Alexis Elgin showed three rabbits and won two Best of Breeds, a best of Variety, a Best Opposite of Variety, and three first place awards. She also placed first in the senior skillathon class and first in senior showmanship. Natalie Pavlik exhibited three rabbits, receiving a first and second place and a Best of Variety and Best Opposite of Breed. She also exhibited a cavy that was Best of Show and Best of Breed. She also placed first in intermediate showmanship. Indiana County 4-H leader Ashley Sloan was judge for the rabbit show.
Elizabeth Bruner competed in the dog show with her dog Honey. Her placings included second in junior sub-novice obedience, fourth in junior grooming and third in junior dress up fun class.
Several members also entered the communication contests. Pavlik won the champion overall poster with her first-place junior poster. Abigail Bruner was third with her junior poster, and Alexis Elgin was second in the senior poster class. Abigail Bruner was also third in junior single photo. Elizabeth Bruner also entered a poster and photo.
