Aging Services Inc. has announced that the five full-time social centers in Indiana County are once again gearing up for their “Seniors Giving Back to the Community” projects.

Each center will be conducting fundraising events to raise money for projects which center members and staff have chosen. These projects have become an annual event with a special charity or need being addressed each year.

Each center’s membership and staff met, discussed and planned strategies for the fundraising. This year the social centers will play “Santa” to the following community groups in need.

Mahoning Hills Social Center is conducting a food drive through Nov. 8 to benefit ICCAP. Their collection of nonperishable food items and monetary donations has become a tradition at the center. For each dollar donated, the food bank is able to purchase 10 pounds of food to help others. For more information, contact (724) 286-3099.

Saltsburg Social Center has chosen the Saltsburg Volunteer Fire Department as the recipient of their benefit effort. They will be hosting a pork and sauerkraut dinner at 5 p.m. Wednesday with entertainment by DJ Jammin’ Jim from 6 to 7 p.m. There will be 50/50s and door prizes. Tickets for the dinner are on sale now for $5, and must be purchased in advance. If you are unable to attend the dinner but would like to make a monetary donation to the cause, donations are being accepted now through the evening of the dinner.
