HS FOOTBALL: Derry loses season finale, 50-7

DERRY — Derry closed a winless 10-game season with a 50-7 loss to Southmoreland in a WPIAL non-conference football game Thursday night.

Southmoreland running back Jake Pisula, who broke the school’s single-season rushing record with 1,609 yards, ran for 302 yards and four touchdowns on 32 carries. Aaron Bailey rushed for 148 yards on 16 carries.

Southmoreland (4-6) gained all 459 of its yards on the ground.

Kyle Holmes scored Derry’s touchdown on a 5-yard run, and Andrew Downey booted the extra point to give the Trojans a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. It marked the second time this season Derry held a lead.

Derry was outscored 563-60 this season.
