The IUP women’s cross country team earned its second consecutive berth in the NCAA Division II championships with a third-place finish at the Atlantic Regionals on Saturday in Lock Haven.

Two runners earned all-region honors for the Crimson Hawks, with Rachel Magliane finishing in third and Samantha Thompson coming in 10th.

Magliane was right on the heels of Victoria Davis, the regional champion from Bloomsburg. Magliane finished the 6K course in a time of 20 minutes, 52.1 seconds, not far behind Davis’ time of 20:45 and just 1.1 seconds behind second-place finisher Sarah Krolick of Edinboro.

Thompson finished with a time of 21:14.7, less than 30 seconds off the lead.

IUP’s third finisher was Katie Koenig, who came in 25th at 21:49 to earn all-region honors. Lauren Lyons, an Indiana High School graduate, and Steph Beaudette were next in line in 38th and 46th place, respectively. Lyons’ time was 22:11, and Beaudette finished at 22:18.6.
