After his career game in helping IUP to a blowout win on Saturday, quarterback Mike Box has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week.

Box completed 21 of 25 passes for 378 yards and four touchdowns as the Crimson Hawks racked up 658 total yards in a 55-20 victory over Gannon at home. The completions, yardage and touchdowns are career highs for Box.

The 378 yards was the most by an IUP quarterback since Brian Eyerman threw for 407 against Saginaw Valley State in 2001. It was the first 300-yard passing day for an IUP quarterback since Andrew Krewatch finished with 313 against Gannon in 2008. That also was the last time an IUP quarterback threw for four touchdowns in a game.

It is the fifth-most passing yards in a single game in IUP history, tying Krewatch’s against Shepherd in 2007. Box’s 375 total yards are sixth-most in school history, and he has thrown for 32 career touchdowns, eighth all-time at IUP.

Box and the Crimson Hawks are on the road at Shippensburg on Saturday for their final regular-season game.
