BRUSH VALLEY — The Brush Valley Township supervisors approved a preliminary budget with no tax increases at a meeting last week.
The 2014 budget has a general fund of $283,000 and a state fund of $180,085, said Robin Brilhart, township secretary.
There are no tax increases proposed. The following tentative tax rates were also approved: 4.95 mills for real estate, $5 per capita, $5 local services tax and 0.5 percent for real estate transfers and earned income.
The proposed budget is available for review during office hours or by appointment at the township building until a final vote Dec. 2.
In other business, the supervisors:
• Announced that representatives from Peoples TWP LLC will present evaluation information to the supervisors at 10 a.m. Tuesday regarding areas of the township where people may be interested in natural gas services.
• Will send letters to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation regarding a safety review of the intersection of Route 56 and Roundtop Road, and to request a 35 mph speed limit sign on Route 56 be extended an additional half-mile east.
