CRAFT SHOW: The Elderton Volunteer Fire Department will be having a craft show with a soup and sandwich dinner from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the fire hall in Elderton.

Craft vendors will have handmade goods, such as crocheted kitchen items, jewelry, woodcrafts, handmade soaps and lotions, scarves, florals and much more for last-minute shopping. The kitchen will be serving hot homemade soups and a variety of sandwiches. Proceeds benefit the fire department funds to purchase equipment. Admission and parking are free.

POLKA JAM: A Christmas Polka Jam will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Guy’s Tavern, Westmoreland Avenue, Avonmore. There will be music, food and raffles. Proceeds benefit the Avonmore Senior Center. Call (724) 697-5130.


MEETING: The Happy Homemakers will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Benjamin’s restaurant for the group’s annual Christmas party. Remember to bring paper products for the Alice Paul House.

Also bring three $1 gifts for bingo and one $3 grab bag gift.

SENIOR CITIZENS’ LUNCHEON: The annual senior citizens’ luncheon for Ligonier Valley School District residents will be held Dec. 17 at noon at Ligonier Valley High School. The program will begin in the auditorium with a brief preview of this year’s choral concert.

Lunch will be served in the cafeteria at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Beginning today, reservations may be made by calling the high school at (724) 238-9531 anytime between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Seating is limited. Reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
