MARION CENTER —Adam Gordish set a pair of school records in Marion Center’s season-opening swim meet against Northern Cambria on Monday.
Northern Cambria swept the meet, the boys’ team winning 103-51 and the girls’ team winning 103-64.
Gordish notched first-place finishes in the 500 freestyle and 200 freestyle and broke the school records in each event. He finished the 500 freestyle in 5 minutes, 15 seconds, and the 200 freestyle in 1:53.
Richard Ankney placed first in the 50 freestyle, and Mitchell Gordish took first in the 100 butterfly.
Brittany Gaston paced the Marion Center girls with wins in the 200 freestyle and 50 freestyle. Kimmi Donaldson won the 500 freestyle, and Morgan Tonkin took first in the 100 butterfly. Donaldson, Tonkin and Gaston each swam on the winning 200 medley relay team along with Robin Schultz.
Schultz posted a District 6 qualifying time in the 100 backstroke (1:15.81), and Tonkin qualified in 100 butterfly (1:17.53).
Both teams compete at home Wednesday. Northern Cambria plays host to Hollidaysburg, and Marion Center welcomes Central Cambria.
