INDIANA KIWANIS CLUB
During the month of November, the Indiana Kiwanis Club was treated to a number of interesting programs. After participating in the United Way Pancake and Sausage fundraiser, President Bruce Jenkins and a representative from Merrill Lynch discussed investment strategies.
On Nov. 12, Josie Cunningham presented a moving account of the battle at Gettysburg, which took place 150 years ago. She ended her touching presentation with a recitation of the Gettysburg Address.
Nov. 19 brought Don and Becky Becker, Civil War re-enactors, dressed in garb of the time. They shared memorabilia and Don presented a slide show detailing the actual 1863 battle.
Dave Koches represented Kiwanis at the Pine Grove Key Club meeting. The Key Club has raised $2,000 being donated to three charities: Alice Paul House, Chevy Chase Community Center, and Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Representatives from these groups accepted checks on Dec. 4. Salvation Army bell ringing at the Indiana Mall will be Dec. 21.
