As we approach the celebration of the birth of Jesus. I’m afraid his birth has turned into a commercial frenzy, starting with Thanksgiving shopping, Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
People are buying things with money that they don’t have to keep up with the demands of children, co-workers or others. They are then upset when the bills start coming in after all the Christmas fun is over.
What happened to the simpler days when we bought only what we could afford, had a nice dinner with family and went to a church service to praise God for the wonderful gift of his son, who was sent to be born, to live and to die so we could have eternal life? (John 3:16)
Most people forget that baby Jesus grew up and was crucified and died for all the world if we would only repent and believe in him. This Christmas, dust off the Bible and read about the birth of Jesus, his life and death. I will have a wonderful Christmas with my family but will not forget the focus of the holiday. Happy birthday, Jesus!
