HIGH SCHOOL SWIMMING: Indiana teams place in meet

IMPERIAL — The Indiana boys’ swim team placed second in the annual West Allegheny Holiday Swimming and Diving Invitational on Saturday.

The Indians amassed 222 1/2 points and finished second in a field of 16 teams. Seneca Valley (258), a WPIAL Class AAA team, placed first.

The Indiana girls’ team finished in a tie for fourth place with Quaker Valley.

Wei-Wei Wu paced the boys’ team by placing third in the breaststroke. Wu also swam on the winning 200 medley relay team (1:47.72), which included Grant Hess, Logan Hess and John Zarpentine.

Anna Paccapaniccia placed second in the 100 breaststroke to lead the girls’ team. Paccapaniccia also swam on the second-place 200 medley relay team and the second-place 200 freestyle relay team.

Indiana’s 200 medley relay team included Anna Manges, Sophie Manges and Eliza O’Neal, and the 200 freestyle relay team included Gabby Bobak, Sophie Manges and Eliza O’Neal.

Sophie Manges placed third in the 200 freestyle, and Mackenzie Donahue posted a WPIAL qualifying time in the 100 breaststroke.

Indiana plays host to Greensburg Salem on Jan. 9.
