The Lively Arts at IUP and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra Pops recently announced that it will be changing the lineup of the singers slated for a Feb. 14 concert. The performance, titled “A Broadway Valentine,” is part of the Lively Arts’ Ovations! series and will be in Fisher Auditorium of IUP’s Performing Arts Center.

The two singers, Christiane Noll and Hugh Panaro, bring a wide wealth of performance credits with them, including impressive roles performing on Broadway.

Noll starred on Broadway in the Kennedy Center Revival of “Ragtime,” receiving Tony and Drama Desk award nominations and winning a Helen Hayes award for her portrayal of Mother. Broadway and National Tour appearances include “Chaplin” (Drama Desk Award nomination); “Urinetown” (Ovation Award); “The Mambo Kings” (pre-Broadway); “It Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues”; “Jekyll & Hyde” (FANY award); “Grease”; “Miss Saigon”; and “South Pacific” (Australia/ Thailand). She was recently featured in NBC’s live broadcast of “The Sound of Music.”

Panaro is currently starring on Broadway in the title role of “The Phantom of the Opera.” Also on Broadway, he has been seen as Gaylord Ravenal in the Harold Prince revival of “Show Boat” and Marius in “Les Misï¿©rables.” He created the roles of Buddy Foster in “Side Show,” Julian Craster in Jule Styne’s final musical “The Red Shoes” and the title role of the seductive vampire in Elton John’s musical “Lestat.”

Panaro made his West End (London) debut as Gaylord Ravenal in “Show Boat” and went on to perform the title role in “Martin Guerre.” Some of his Off-Broadway credits include “White Lies” at the Triad Theater, “Noa Noa” at Playwrights Horizons, Heathcliff in “Wuthering Heights” at the John Housman Theatre, “Children of Eden” at the Actor’s Playhouse, and Robert in “Little Fish” at Second Stage Theatre.

The lineup change was made due to health and schedule issues with the original singers, Melissa Errico and Ryan Silverman. Tickets for the Valentine’s Day concert go on sale Jan. 14.

Tickets are $38 regular admission, $32 for senior citizens and groups of 15 or more, and $16 for students and children. All tickets are reserved seating. To purchase tickets when they are on sale, visit IUPTickets.com, call (724) 357-1313, or stop by the Hadley Union Building. Any seats remaining will be sold at the door starting one hour before the performance.
